Partial Blockages

partial blockages

Firstly I would like to apologise to all my lovely readers for being a day late but the sickness bug had hit the Simpson household! Firstly with Ra-Ra being sick, then my bag kept filling up – I managed to be safe from vomiting as I took some anti sickness after laying on the kitchen floor dry heaving at 5:30 in the morning. 00Steve then was sick and got migraines and the only person who seemed free of the bug was Button although he was sick a few days before. I have done a post before on what it is like being “normal” person sick when chronically sick. But now onto the partial blockages as I suffered that the night leading into the morning of lurgi!

A partial blockage is where you have a blockage in your intestine but output and gas can still get past but not as it normally would. I find that partial blockages cause more pain than a full on blockage because the intestine has got to stretch slightly as things try to move through the gaps. Well it’s the way I think of it happening anyway – baring in mind I am no doctor or nurse! It just seems the logical way it would work.

When I had mine the other night I don’t think I have ever been in as much pain with one before; it isn’t something I get often but they have always been painful. There is a chance that the pain was increased due to the sickness bug but I don’t know that for certain. I normally would have a hot water bottle but I just didn’t have the energy to make one and I massage the area to in any vain attempt to dislodge the blockage. Often when the blockage passes normally I have a huge sense of relief but this time I didn’t I was just left feeling bruised and broken.

The things I would usually do when trying to dislodge blockages are:

  • hot water bottle
  • bath
  • massaging the area
  • drinking fizzy drinks – some people suggest flat fizzy drinks but the idea of that is revolting!

Do you get partials or have you in the past? What are your tips and tricks to help them pass through?
