Your Comfizz Stoma Supportwear Questions Answered

Understandably, when people first discover Comfizz’ stoma supportwear, they often have questions they would like answering before they consider buying. They also often don’t know that you can get certain Comfizz garments on prescription. In today’s blog post, I am going to answer a number of those questions for you. Some questions are ones I also had myself when I first discovered Comfizz back in 2011 when I had my surgery for my permanent ileostomy, which was done via a large incision down my stomach. Will it stop my stoma working? No, it won’t. If you have issues with your stoma not working when wearing the garments, it may be that you have the wrong size. The only time I...

Aura Clothing

Recently I decided to take advantage of a sale Aura Clothing were having and bought myself a bikini and a pair of jeans. I just wanted to highlight their company for any lady who may be looking for a pair of jeans with ostomies in mind and fancy looking swimwear (that isn’t support wear – please don’t get them mixed up) Like with most small companies they may seem expensive but buying from them allows them to eventually pass the savings back to you in the long run. I am a big advocate of buying small and local when I can as once the company becomes established things become cheaper for them to make and then in turn the product becomes less...

Dressing with a Bloated Stomach

There are lots and lots of posts on the tinterweb about dressing with a stoma but very few about dressing with a stoma and a bloated or swollen stomach. This is the single biggest thing that I struggle with and sets off my body dysmorphia the most. Hopefully in this post it might give you some ideas on how to help disguise it if it is something that also bothers you. Of course I would love to be the person that sits here and gives you the magic formula to love yourself in your entireity but sadly I haven’t got that far myself yet. However I am trying to gain body confidence one step at a time and I managed to...

How Comfizz help me to live with a stoma

Tuesday 19th May is World IBD Day. With this coming up, I thought it would be a great opportunity to talk about Comfizz and the impact they have made on my stoma journey. How I got my stoma At age 7 I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. Crohn’s Disease can be anywhere from your mouth to your bum, but a lot of people typically have it in the small intestine. This was where it was diagnosed with me. Being scared as a young child of having scopes (endoscopy/colonoscopy & I still am now, I can just push myself through it), I didn’t undergo tests to keep an eye on things as frequently as you maybe would with an adult with bowel...

Hi Comfizz readers! I’m Amy & I’m 27 from Yorkshire, UK. Today I am going to do a post on 5 ostomy fashion tips & tricks that work well for me. I hope you find some inspiration from this post, and please don’t hesitate to get in touch at hashtagstomabags@gmail.com if any IBD/ostomy questions spring to mind. 1. Comfizz, of course! Since having my ileostomy formed in 2011 I have sworn by Comfizz garments in everyday life. The trusty 10″ level 1 waistband is a staple garment in my underwear drawer & you can tell how much the product means to me by how many I own! The waistbands give me so much confidence to wear the clothes I love, alongside providing...

Dare to Bare? Showing your Ostomy

How do you feel when it comes to your stoma? Are you loud and proud about it? Do you have an issue with getting your stoma bag out in public? You can believe it or not be both for instance I am very open about my stoma but I haven’t yet got it out at the pool or the beach because I’m not sure how I feel about doing that yet. Which is really odd because I will happily get it out for people or take photo’s with it out but I haven’t had it on show in swimwear. I’m happy wearing crop tops or jeans where the top of the bag peaks out. Part of me thinks that as...

Dressing with an Ostomy

Clothes are pretty much essential for day to day life and they can change your appearance, make your feel more confident and can conceal all sorts of things! I am very open about my ostomy and will let people ask questions or even have a look depending on who they are. Yet I would rather not have it on show; now that is personal preference but also has a lot to do with how much I dislike my stomach and that goes back 20 years. People have often said that I hide my stoma well and they would never know that I had one until I mentioned it. We all have different needs and find things comfortable with our stoma’s...
